Revised - Voluntary Retirement and Voluntary Separation Incentive Plan Information

As a follow-up to the June 14, 2024 communication regarding Voluntary Retirement and Voluntary Separation Incentive Plan details, Administration has approved an additional non-phased Voluntary Retirement Incentive for eligible full-time tenured or tenure-track teaching faculty.  The online application for non-phased VRIP has been updated to allow the selection of either Option A, with a non-phased voluntary retirement date effective December 31, 2024 or Option B, with a non-phased voluntary retirement date effective June 30, 2025.  The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) have also been revised to provide clarity around eligibility for those currently out on an approved leave, and clarity for those who may need to go out on an approved leave in the future after being approved under a VSIP/VIRIP.  Please visit the 2024 Voluntary Incentive Plan tile as well as a Voluntary Retirement / Separation Incentive Plan website to review all revisions in greater detail.

Two different voluntary retirement plans:

  • Voluntary Retirement Incentive Plan (non-phased) – revised to provide two options (Option A or Option B) for eligible employees to elect a non-phased retirement.
    • Option A:  Voluntary Retirement Incentive Plan (VRIP) non-phased offered to eligible full-time tenured or tenure-track teaching faculty who work through the end of the Fall 2024 semester and who voluntarily retire effective December 31, 2024.
    • New - Option B:  Voluntary Retirement Incentive Plan (VRIP) non-phased offered to eligible full-time tenured or tenure-track teaching faculty who work through the full year, until the end of the Spring 2025 semester and who voluntarily retire effective June 30, 2025.
  • Voluntary Retirement Incentive Plan (phased) - no revisions.

One voluntary separation incentive plan for those not eligible for retirement

  • Voluntary Separation Incentive Plan (non-phased) - no revisions.

2024 Voluntary Incentive Plan tile as well as a Voluntary Retirement / Separation Incentive Plan website have recently been updated. For the myMCC tile, go to:  Employee Home -> Human Resources -> 2024 VRIP/VSIP Incentives.

In both resources, you will find:

  • Revised Incentive Plan Details & Rules
  • Revised FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
  • Revised Comparison Table – comparing all methods under retirement as outlined within the Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Scheduled Information Sessions
  • Revised Voluntary Incentive Applications
  • Link to the FA Collective Bargaining Agreement

Important Details:

  • The voluntary incentive program is not 1st come 1st served.
  • The deadline to submit an application for consideration remains August 16, 2024 (by 5:00 pm EST).
  • All applications will undergo a review and approval process to ensure eligibility and academic program sustainability.
  • These incentives cannot be combined with each other or applied to other incentives that are already outlined within the Faculty Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Eligible employees can voluntarily elect only one (1) incentive plan option for review and consideration.
  • If you have already submitted an online application and want to be considered for a different incentive plan, please contact HR to assist with withdrawing your initial application.  You can then reapply and select a different incentive for review and consideration.  Please note your new application must be submitted by the August 16, 2024 due date.
  • Employees who submit an application for consideration will be advised whether or not their application is approved on or before September 20, 2024.

We recognize that the decision to voluntarily retire or separate from your full-time teaching position with the College is as much an emotional one as a financial one.  Therefore, the decision to apply for one of these incentives must be left entirely to you, the employee. MCC can assist with providing eligible employees with information to assist with the decision, but we cannot advise as to what decision to make.

We highly encourage eligible employees to thoroughly review all the materials provided as well as attend one or more of the scheduled informational sessions.

Thank you.
