Save the Dates! Carmen Powers Legacy Lectures
It is my honor to announce our 2025 Carmen Powers Legacy Lecturers, Professor John Striebich and Professor Karen Morris.
The intent of the Carmen Powers Legacy Lecture Series is to share and preserve MCC’s collective professional and institutional wisdom. Individuals selected for this prestigious opportunity have had a long and distinguished career at MCC, is an outstanding teacher, mentor, advisor, leader to peers and students, and has a meaningful message to share with the College that will enrich the lives and work of MCC faculty, staff, and students.
Professor John Striebich retired in December 2024 after 21 years as a full-time faculty member in the Business Administration Department. Dating back to his first employment with MCC in 1989, John served in a variety of roles, from Workforce Development to serving two terms as the Chair of the Business and Economics Department. He even served as Interim Chair of the Hospitality Department along the way. Join us Monday, May 19 at Noon in the Empire Room for his lecture.
Professor Karen Morris retired in December 2024 after teaching for 45 years in the Business Administration Department. She was the first community college professor to be awarded the title of Distinguished Professor by SUNY and won the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Karen also served as a Brighton Town Judge for 29 years and was awarded the Humanitarian Award by the Monroe County Bar Association. Join us Thursday, May 22 at Noon in the Forum for her lecture.
