Celebration of Learning Student Testimonial

Happy Friday! We're here with our last student testimonial, sharing what the Celebration of Learning is all about.  April 30th marks the 4th annual Celebration of Learning and applications are open now!

We asked Rokhan Ahmadzai about their experience. Let’s see what they say:

"Celebration of Learning was particularly significant to me because it came just a day after Scholars Day—a presentation I had worked hard to prepare for but felt I fell short of my expectations due to the demanding workload of the Spring semester.

"Initially, I was hesitant to participate in the Celebration of Learning after my less-than-stellar experience at Scholars Day, which also caused me to arrive late. However, I’m so glad I pushed myself to attend because it turned out to be an unexpectedly rewarding experience.

"The Celebration of Learning had a more open, casual, and welcoming atmosphere while maintaining professionalism. I appreciated the opportunity to engage with the audience without the pressure of strict time limits. It was amazing to interact with fellow students and professors from different departments.

"One of my favorite moments was when Professor Don Beach (Retired) and my former ESOL professor, Bridget Dee, stopped by to listen to my presentation. It was also incredibly motivating to see one of MCC’s vice presidents in the audience, inspired by my story. Following the event, the vice president reached out to my mentor, Professor Ilene Benz from the Communication Department, to discuss a potential speaking opportunity.

"Overall, participating in the Celebration of Learning was an enriching experience. I learned, shared my story, and received a chance to further showcase my communication skills. It was both fun and meaningful, and I would love to take part in similar events in the future, provided my schedule allows.

"Thank you again for organizing such a fantastic platform for students to grow and connect."
