May is Mental Health Awareness Month
Join the Counseling Center, Disability Services, and Health Services as we come together to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month throughout May. Now more than ever, it’s essential to break the silence, reduce stigma, and create a supportive environment for conversations around mental health.
Mental health affects us all, directly or indirectly. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, one in five adults in the U.S. experiences a mental illness each year, yet only about half receive the help they need. This month, we're inviting the MCC community to engage, learn, and support one another.
Throughout May, we’ll be hosting a variety of events aimed at opening dialogue, sharing tools for mental wellness, and connecting students with valuable resources. We’re kicking things off with daily events during the first week of May. Please help us in making mental health a priority for all of our MCC students and community. See below for a detailed daily agenda:
5/5- Mindful Monday:
- 9am to 11am
- Location: Counseling & Disability Office, room 3-103
- Grab & Go breakfast, mindfulness materials and activities
- 11am to 12pm
- Mindful Meditation
- Location: Dance Studio, room 10-143
- 12pm to 1pm
- Parent Support Group
- Location: Counseling & Disability Office, room 3-103
5/6- Thankful Tuesday:
- 10am to 12pm
- Location: Counseling & Disability Office, room 3-103
- Grab & go breakfast, learn about the mental health benefits of practicing gratitude, join in on gratitude activities
5/7- Wellness Wednesday:
- 11am to 2pm
- Brighton Campus will be bringing out weekly Wellness Wednesday Workshop to Spring Fling for double the fun!
- 12pm to 1pm
- Our Wellness Wednesday Workshop will be joining the H3 lunches at Downtown Campus for double the fun!
5/8- Thoughtful Thursday:
- 11:30am to 2:00pm
- Our Health & Wellness on Wheels will be traveling around Brighton Campus giving out sweet treats, resources and random acts of kindness.
5/9- Feel Good Friday:
- 11:00am to 1:00pm
- Location: Counseling & Disability Office, room 3-103
- Grab & go lunches along with self-care products and massage chairs
5/12- Mindful Monday:
- 12:30pm to 2:30pm
- Location: Counseling & Disability Office, room 3-103
- Make your own trail mix bar, mindfulness materials, giveaways and activities
