Medical Laboratory Technology Program Hosts Site Visit

On October 30 and 31 the Medical Laboratory/Clinical Laboratory Technology program and the Biology Department hosted a site visit from an accreditation team from the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). The site visitors spent two days meeting with faculty, administrators, students, advisory board members and clinical partners. The purpose of the visit was for NAACLS to verify information submitted by the program and to further explore the program and its effectiveness. At the exit meeting on Friday the site visitors were extremely complementary about the quality of this new program and, in particular, the faculty in all the disciplines who teach students in the program. They also emphasized the positive feedback they received from clinical partners regarding the caliber and preparedness of the students in clinical rotations. Program Director, Tracey Graney was specifically mentioned for doing a great job in getting a new program up and running at the level they saw. The visiting team’s recommendations regarding accreditation will make their way to the NAACLS Board of Directors and MCC will receive the final decision regarding initial accreditation in April.
