MCC Proud: Meet Sanjib Mudvary

Sanjib Mudvary is a Campus Peace Officer at Monroe Community College (MCC). He also serves as a part-time Criminal Justice Tutor in the tutoring lab.

He was originally hired in 2016 as an Accounting Clerk for the MCC Foundation before moving to Public Safety Assistant II the following year. In 2022, he was hired as a Peace Officer and has served in that position ever since.

Mudvary wanted to work in the Public Safety Department in order to help provide a safe and supportive environment for students to succeed. “I knew I wanted to work with people and be helpful,” he said. “I would like the current students and future students of MCC to have an enriching experience at MCC and then move on to better and better things.”

He has received numerous honors for his efforts, including a citation and Chief’s Coin for going above and beyond his duty. Mudvary was also awarded the MCC Champ Award by the Student Government Association for outstanding service and dedication to the MCC community.

In addition to working in the Public Safety Department, Mudvary tutors Criminal Justice students at the Downtown Campus twice a week. “I wanted to use my criminal justice degree, my professional and personal experience to help students,” he said. “Sharing knowledge and watching students succeed is very rewarding for me. It also allows me to be part of the academic community.”

While Mudvary also attended SUNY Empire, SUNY Geneseo, and SUNY Corning Community College, MCC was where he succeeded as a student and was accepted into Phi Theta Kappa for his grades.

“MCC is my favorite college,” he said.

When asked what suggestions he would give current or prospective students, Mudvary said, “...set goals for yourself.”

He added, “Don’t let obstacles such as a challenging class stop you from achieving your goals and dreams. There are resources in place to help you.”
