Semi-annual Appeal on Classroom Issues

I hope you had the opportunity to enjoy some of the awesome summer weather we've had.  While many of you were off for the summer, our friends in Facilities have done their typical great job of preserving our campus for the future and providing us with good teaching environments. Our partners in CNS and Instructional Technology have prepared our classrooms and labs for the opening of school.  We’re in really good shape this year; it should be a great semester.

But it’s time for my semi-annual appeal to the faculty on classroom issues. If you find you have more students than chairs in your assigned classroom, please contact me with the number of additional chairs you require. I will then forward to our colleagues in Facilities, who are great at responding to our needs. Please don’t “borrow” them from the room next door or I’ll get notes from the 13 folks who teach in that room! The sooner you can let me know, the sooner Facilities can react. But please think of your room before you ask for chairs. If you are trying to add chairs that will create a safety issue, please rethink your request.

Hopefully everyone who teaches in a smart classroom has a key for that room. If not, please contact Public Safety to acquire the key. If you’re teaching in a smart classroom, please lock the door when you leave unless you are directly turning the room over to another faculty member.

Have a great semester and if there’s anything I can do for you, please let me know.
