Brrrave Women's Polar Bear Plunge

As a woman, a nurse and health educator, I am aware of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual stress experienced when a woman hears the words; “You have breast cancer”.  Those 4 words are the beginning of a life-long journey filled with highs and lows, struggles and successes.  It takes a courageous woman to face that diagnosis and travel that path from diagnosis, through treatment, recovery, recurrence or end of life.

It is through the efforts of groups like Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester (BCCR), whose mission it is to make eradication of breast cancer a priority through education and advocacy, empowerment, support, and research, that I can assist those brave women.

This year I will be participating as part of the team in the BRRRAVE WOMEN’S POLAR BEAR PLUNGE.  This event will occur on Saturday January 20, 2007 at Woodcliff Lodge.  I have recruited 3 other brave women in the Department of Health and Physical Education to join me in this event.  We will be raising money for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester by taking bets that we will not be brave enough to take the plunge into the outdoor pool at Woodcliff.  Do you think we will actually take the plunge?  Are we BRRRAVE women?

Help us with our fund raising efforts and send us your donation.  All amounts are valued and appreciated (cash or check made out to BCCR).  We will send you a receipt for your tax-deductible donation and keep you informed on our fund-raising efforts.  I love challenges! Help motivate me and my team by contributing to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester.

If you are a woman, why not get a group of your “sisters” together and form your own team (up to 10 members).  Call me, e-mail me, I will send you information and get you started on your BRRRAVE WOMEN”S CHALLENGE.

I know we have many courageous women at MCC, and in support of those touched by breast cancer I support you in my efforts.
