It’s Spring Cleaning Time

May is a good time to do some spring cleaning.  Garages, basements, closets and garden sheds are great places to start with organizing and discarding items that are no longer needed.  Some items that need to be discarded need to be disposed of under hazardous waste processes – paint, garden chemicals, antifreeze, driveway sealer, gasoline, medications, etc.).  Other items are perfect for recycling – electronics, scrap metal, cardboard, batteries, cooking oil, light bulbs, etc.).  Wouldn’t it be great if there was an easy way to dispose of all these items at a single location in a way that protects the environment?

The ecopark, located at 10 Avion Drive, Rochester, NY, is that location!  The ecopark is an innovative partnership between Monroe County and Waste Management of NY that provides county residents with a “one-stop drop-off” to dispose of or recycle items.  It is a residential drop-off facility open weekly Wed.-Sat., 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to accept regular items and open several times a month to accept household hazardous waste.  A drive through the ecopark is an interesting trip and it’s very easy to drop off your belongings.  It’s a great way to dispose of almost anything you need to get rid of due to your spring cleaning efforts.
