Back By Popular Demand - The Rochester Riots: A Walking Tour of Joseph Avenue

Last semester, honors history students created a walking tour of Joseph Avenue surveying the historical transformation of the area following the July 1964 riots. The tours were every successful during the summer as Rochester remembered the 50th anniversary of the riots. We will be hosting the last public tours of the year this week and all are invited to attend and be part of an important community dialogue.

The tours are Thursday, 11/6 and Friday, 11/7 starting at 4:00 pm and on Saturday, 11/8 starting at noon. The tours will begin and end at the Lincoln Branch Library at the corner of Joseph Ave and Avenue D and refreshments will be provided. Since the majority of time will be spent outside on Joseph Avenue, please dress warmly!

The tours are part of the Rochester Neighborhood Oral History Project (RNOHP) sponsored by The Democracy Commitment Initiative and the AHPS Department.
