The Sixth Act Night at Streetcar!

The Sixth Act is pleased to announce the next Sixth Act Night at VaPA! This is a GREAT co-curricular opportunity for students across MCC to see a provocative canonical masterpiece on its feet.

Please join us on FRIDAY, APRIL 4, AT 7:30 PM, at the MCC Theater, to see VaPA’s production of Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire, followed by a special talkback with VaPA Professor Heather Fox and the student artists involved. Tickets can be purchased at https://monroecctickets.universitytickets.com/user_pages/event_listings.asp.

For those of you unfamiliar with the play, Streetcar tells the story of Blanche DuBois’ turbulent visit to her sister’s home in New Orleans. Confronting issues of co-dependence, sexuality, mental health, and both sexual and spousal abuse, Streetcar inspires a hotbed of emotions. Indeed, according to NY TIMES critic Ben Brantly, the play includes “the most heartbreaking nervous breakdown in American drama.”  The Sixth Act is thrilled to support this production and to host a conversation about the production’s themes and process afterwards.

Please contact Maria Brandt at <mailto:mbrandt@monroecc.edu> with any questions and/or to receive an electronic teaching packet filled with Streetcar-related materials. We hope to see you and your students on April 4!
