A Bone Marrow Drive sponsored by Voices of Silence, American Sign Language Club will be held:
WHEN: Wednesday, December 8, 2004
11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
WHERE: Warshof Conference Center, Monroe B (3-205A)
MCC Brighton Campus
1000 East Henrietta Road
Rochester, NY 14623
Why only for minorities? Someone needing a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor has the best chance of finding a match with a person who shares a common ethnic background. The reason for waiving the fee for members of minority groups is to add new tissue types not currently on the registry of the National Marrow Donor Program.
What is the cost? The test is free for anyone of African-American, Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, or Native American descent.
Caucasian testing? The testing fee is normally $65.00; however, some funding is available for non-minority testing. For information, call Ananda at (585) 292-3662 or email <mailto:ddumas003@student.monroecc.edu>.
