News from the MCC Board of Trustees Meeting


The MCC Board of Trustees held its meeting in the Board Room on the Brighton Campus on Monday, April 11 and took the following actions:

1. Approved the Consent Calendar, containing past meeting minutes, operating disbursements, personnel appointments, compensation, appointments, promotions, separations from service and Faculty Senate proposals.

2. Accepted the interim financial report as of February 28, 2011.

3. Authorized the purchase of items over $20,000 for the month of February 2011.


4. Approved the schedule of fees for 2011-12. (Action on 2011-12 tuition was deferred until the next board meeting, June 13.)

5. Approved the title Vice President, Administrative Services be changed to Chief Financial Officer and Vice President, Administrative Services.

6. Approved the appointment of Kristen Fragnoli as Interim dean of the Liberal Arts Division effective April 1, 2011.

7. Approved the appointment of Kimberly McKinsey-Mabry as Assistant to the Vice President, Academic Services, for the period of April 5, 2011 and continuing through August 31, 2012.


8. Approved the appointment of Clayton Jones as Assistant to the Vice President, Academic Services for the period of May 1, 2011 and continuing through August 31, 2012.

9. Approved the appointment of Lori Moses as Acting Chair of the Visual and Performing Arts Department effective April 1, 2011.

10. Approved the appointment of Department Chairs for the Academic Year 2011-12 as listed.

11. Approved the adjustment of the 2011/12 base annual salaries in accordance with Article 47 (workload buy down) of the current contractual agreement with the Faculty Association for seven named faculty.

12. Conducted an executive session pursuant to Public Officers Law Section 105, subsections c and h.

The Board heard a presentation by Associate Professor of Business John Striebich regarding a new international education, grant-funded partnership and his recent trip to Lebanon. Chairman Goode described the partnership as a "feather in MCC's cap."


The Board heard an update from MCC Foundation Executive Director Diane Shoger regarding the annual fund, upcoming Foundation events, and the recently completed internal grants awards.

Trustee Tillinghast, chair of the Personnel and Programs Committee, shared with the board a memo from President Kress and her Cabinet regarding their decision to not seek salary increases in 2011-12 in recognition of budget difficulties facing New York state and higher education funding.
