A New Opportunity for MCC Students, Faculty, and Staff

Free Admission to The Collectors Showcase Museum

Did you know MCC is one of the organizations that helped bring a new museum into being?  Well, it is.

Would you like to get in one more fun outing before the summer ends?  You can – and for free.

The MCC community is invited to escape the heat and visit The Collectors Showcase, a new kind of museum with the mission of displaying large, privately-owned collections.

The Collectors Showcase was founded by Patti Drumright, former adjunct professor in ENG and TRS, and since its grand opening in March, the museum has doubled the number of collections on display to 60, owned by 18 local collectors.

The museum has seven galleries featuring antiques, vintage pieces, and newer collectibles.  Current collections on display include beer steins, teapots, art glass, figurines, and classic toys. Guided tours offer tidbits of history, artistry, and trivia about the collections as well as stories from the collectors and their treasure-hunting adventures.

The Collectors Showcase museum is located at Pittsford Place mall, 3300 Monroe Ave., across the road from Pittsford Plaza. The museum is located on the first floor of the former Lauer’s furniture store building.

The museum is open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.  Regular admission is $10, but admission is free in August for MCC students, faculty and staff.  Tickets are available at the door.

Patti Drumright was a winner in the first Launch Your Business! competition, sponsored by the Everyday Entrepreneur Venture Fund and organized by the Business Administration Department, the MCC Foundation, ESL Federal Credit Union, and SCORE.
