I am sad to inform the college community of Professor Emeritus Vince Prestianni’s passing on Tuesday, December 29. An MCC librarian for more than 30 years, Vince was a pleasant and poised intellectual – a philosopher with a seasoned wit who loved his role helping students. His great enthusiasm for books and learning, his seriousness of purpose and desire to spread an appreciation of literature served the College well.
Vince earned his bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and his master’s degree from Rutgers University. He began his MCC career in 1966 and retired in 1999.
Vince is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susanne; two children, Philip (Louise Raw) and Lisa Prestianni; one grandson, Sam Prestianni; brother, Benedict (Stephanie) Prestianni; sister-in-law, Margaret Smith; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
