Call for Student Plays!

The Sixth Act is soliciting student submissions for our Eighteenth Annual Student Playwriting Competition!

Here are the guidelines:

  1. Playwright must be an MCC student during the Fall 2024 or Spring 2025 semester.
  2. All submissions must be one-act stage plays, maximum 3000 words.
  3. All submissions must include a separate title page with author’s name, M-number, home address, campus address, e-mail address, and phone number. Both the title page and script itself should be in doc or docx format.
  4. Author’s name should appear nowhere on the script itself.
  5. All submissions must be original and unpublished in any but college publications.
  6. Submission Deadline is Friday, March 28, 2025.

About the Winners:

  1. Winning scripts will receive fully staged readings at a special Awards Ceremony on May 8, 2024.
  2. Winning playwrights will receive cash awards of $100 each.
  3. One winning play also will be submitted to a nationwide competition sponsored by the League of Innovation in Community Colleges.
  4. Winners will be notified by April 11, 2025.
