MORE Book Buddies Needed for “If All of Rochester Read…” Program

Writers and Books has announced that "Name All the Animals" by Rochester native Alison Smith is the 2006 selection. Approximately 25 MCC staff and faculty have volunteered to be a Book Buddy to my Introduction to Literature class that has 35 students enrolled. To make this a memorable reading experience for MCC students, I need 10 more faculty and staff volunteers to be a Book Buddy.

Once the dust settles on the enrollment and I have a Book Buddy for each of my students, I will e-mail my syllabus to everyone and will send out posters to all Book Buddies. Reader’s Guides and posters are pending Writers and Books’ budget and timeline. The MCC Bookstore says that copies of "Name All the Animals" will be available for sale this week. My class will begin to read the book in March.

A luncheon hosted by the Campus Activities Board will occur on Wednesday, March 29 at 1 p.m. (room to be announced). MCC will host Alison Smith on Friday, March 31 at noon in The Forum. Please mark your calendars. Don’t hesitate to call (x3303) or e-mail "mailto:epierce@monroecc.edu" with any questions.

Just 10 more!
