Hospitality Fun/ Server Race at MCC

Server Style & Race © - waiters' race -- scheduled for Sunday, September 29th,
2002 at Monroe Community College. (Soccer field)

Patterned after server races held annually in Sarasota, Fla., Toronto,
Monterey, Ca, and New York City: Mise en Place, a Rochester, NY wait staff
training company in partnership with the Rochester chapter of the American
Culinary Federation (executive chef association) will present a waiters race.
Any servers eighteen years of age and older, working in a Rochester area
restaurant, country club, hotel restaurant, or banquet center are invited to
compete for cash, prizes, and recognition.

There are two events open to servers; a 3-Server Team relay race and an
Individual Server Challenge obstacle course. Servers compete against time. One
grand winner of the 3-Server Team competition will be invited to compete
against the winning team of the "Taste of The Danforth" festival in Toronto
next summer. Individual Server Challenge will honor 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place
winners. In addition, there will be an exhibition leg where the students of the
Food, Hotel and Travel department will try their hand in the competition heats
and vie for prizes as well.

Any restaurant with a wait staff of guest servers is welcome and encouraged to
send their servers to participate as an individual or team.

This event is supported by the WNY chapter of New York State Restaurant
Association and the Greater Rochester Visitors Association.
