Italian Actor Beniamino Marcone Joins MCC for a Screening of His Film "A Beautiful Lie"

The Liberal Arts Division, the Global Education and International Services Office, and the World Languages and Cultures Department cordially invite you to attend the screening of the short film “Una bellissima bugia” (A Beautiful Lie), and to meet Mr. Beniamino Marcone, the principal actor, who will introduce the film and answer questions from the audience.

Synopsis: A young man with muscular dystrophy meets a stranger who claims to have been cured of a similar pathology. They engage in a close dialogue, showing the protagonist's life in all its facets. The stranger then reveals a shocking truth.

“A Beautiful Lie” is in Italian with English subtitles, and its duration is approximately 19 minutes.

Beniamino Marcone, 34, has worked extensively in theatre, television and cinema. Mr. Marcone is well known for playing one of the main characters in “The Young Montalbano,” a series produced by Italian Television and broadcast in the UK and other countries through the BBC.

The film director, Lorenzo Santoni, 25, is a young director of short films. He graduated in Science of Cultural Heritage, Music, Cinema and Theatre at the University of Siena with Honors. Mr. Santoni has completed several works on issues such as disability, the relationship between people and nature, and superstition.

“A Beautiful Lie” is also on this year’s program of the Rochester International Film Festival, the world’s oldest continuously-held short film festival, which takes place April 20 to 22.
