Tech Tip: VPN-free File Access

Tired of that extra step of logging in to VPN every day? Using Microsoft Teams allows you to share and collaboratively edit files with your department or committee members, you just need an internet connection (no VPN) to sign in to Microsoft Teams.

Microsoft Teams is the natural successor to M:\MCC\Teams since it is easily setup for interdepartmental collaboration and file sharing. Using Teams/OneDrive simply empowers the Teams/OneDrive data owner(s) to establish sharing permissions for individuals directly without having to put in requests. Currently, employees already establish permissions related to data security and protection in M:\MCC\Teams, it is just that Technology Services staff are “clicking the buttons” for them. Additionally, the self-service functions of cloud collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams make for a better and more efficient way to work.

Join your MCC colleagues who have already started the transition and are creating and using Microsoft Teams!

We do have some quick guide available on our Tech Tips page or you can request a short presentation for your department or committee, by emailing Ann Penwarden.

If you would like assistance in creating a Microsoft Team, you can contact Employee Technical support at 585-292-8324, option 3 (Monday through Friday, 8:45am to 4:45pm).
