MCC Students Participate in Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge

This semester, a group of MCC/UR students (Team 5), led by Professor Jon Little, was selected as one of the top 5 teams of the Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge.  This virtual exchange program supports workforce development between the US, Iraq and Jordan.  It is funded and supported by the U.S. Department of State, Aspen Institute, Stevens Initiative, and IREX.

One MCC student (Leah Mathis, Mapping Club/Geographer/GIS student) will be presenting alongside our partner from Middle Eastern University in Amman, Jordan this Wednesday (Dec 14) to be selected as one of the top 3 teams in this challenge.  View the team's video pitch

The MCC/UR team created Solar Solutions, a solar charging station that encourages people to use public transportation by providing a space to charge their electronic devices.

Student presentations will take place today (Wednesday) from 11:30 am to 1 pm.  Register online for the Zoom expo.

MCC Students include:

  • Casmir Brown
  • Leah Mathis
  • Tim Scott
  • Shelly St. John
  • Nhu Lucy Tran

Congratulations to this dedicated team who met on Saturdays for the past 10 weeks!
