“The Women of Brewster Place” is an emotional and inspiring film based on the novel by Gloria Naylor, and produced in 1989 by Oprah Winfrey’s firm Harpo, Inc. in which a group of strong-willed women who live in the same rundown housing project located on Brewster Place, tell about their lives as they struggle against racism, poverty and troublesome men through three decades. This film is an example of the strength of women to rise above life’s difficulties and the power within.
