The LeRoy V. Good Library (Brighton Campus) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a lecture Friday, October 30, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Associate Professor Rick Squires, Collection Development Librarian in our own MCC Libraries, will be speaking on “Mt. Hope Cemetery: Where Rochester’s History Lives.” The lecture will be located on the 4th floor of the library, outside of room 2-452.
Rick Squires is a lifelong resident of Rochester and was a charter member of The Friends of Mt. Hope Cemetery in 1979. In addition to graveyards and local history, he’s also a film buff and collector (specializing in the career of horror star Vincent Price), as well as an author. Rick’s 1995 book Stern Fathers ‘Neath the Mould tells the story of fantasy writer H. P. Lovecraft’s family, who are, not so coincidentally, buried at Mt. Hope Cemetery!
