During his time with Messenger Post, Tom covered PGA, LPGA, and Nationwide Tour golf events, Buffalo Bills training camp, and Rochester Rhinos and United States women’s national soccer team games. He also contributed articles to The Associated Press.

Prior to his career as a sports writer, Tom spent nine summers working at Stafford Country Club. His duties included customer service, club and equipment maintenance, and member relations in the bag room and pro shop.
