AAWCC/NILD Open House Monday, Sept. 12

The American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) is a national organization committed to equity and excellence in education and employment for women in community colleges. The MCC Chapter of AAWCC is committed to encouraging and supporting personal and professional growth and increasing the awareness of women's issues through workshops, seminars, and special events. In addition, the Chapter supports community service projects and fosters networking and mentoring opportunities among the women at the College. Membership is open to all MCC employees.

The National Institute for Leadership Development (NILD) provides national leadership development opportunities for women in higher education. NILD sponsors a Women’s Leadership Institute that provides seminars, advocacy, networking, partnership and recognition opportunities for selected participants. The Institute is a cohort-based program that creates partnerships at the local and national levels to further the interests of women in higher education. Since 1981, over 25 MCC women have participated in the NILD leadership Institute. In recent years, a local MCC NILD group was formed to provide networking opportunities, enhance leadership skills development and provide mentoring opportunities for MCC women and men. Membership in the local MCC NILD group is limited to women who have participated in the NILD Institute.

The AAWCC/NILD Open House is scheduled for Monday, September 12, from 6:30-8:30 pm at the home of Dr. Janet Glocker, VP Academic Services. This event is open to new female faculty & staff as well as to AAWCC and NILD members.
