MCC Daily Tribune

Thank you for participating in Open Classrooms Week!

Last week, fourteen faculty members opened their in-person, remote, and virtual classrooms to nearly 50 guests! This was a great opportunity to peak inside and see what some of our most creative and engaging faculty are doing in their classes and reflect on our own practices. The TCC extends a special thank you to all who participated!

Faculty and staff seemed particularly interested in observing online courses, as we transition to Brightspace as an institution this semester. One faculty member remarked to another, "I am particularly impressed by your ability to make this a straightforward, uncluttered experience for your students as well as your ability to infuse your personality into this online format. That is a goal for me to continue working towards, as I struggle to make the strong connections with students online like I am able to do in an in-person setting."

The TCC will be hosting Open Classrooms Week again in the spring, so if you missed it this semester, look for upcoming announcements!

Open Classrooms Week connects with goals 1 and 2 of the Teaching and Creativity Center, namely:

Goal 1: Create a culture of critical reflection, continual growth, and collaboration for faculty at all stages of professional growth

Goal 2:  Promote evidence-based, high-impact, innovative course design and teaching strategies that improve student outcomes
