Anita L. Pelletier ’88, MCC Alumni Hall of Fame Inductee

Anita L. Pelletier ’88 will become a member of the MCC Alumni Hall of Fame next month at the MCC Foundation’s 24th Annual Salute to Excellence dinner. Anita was nominated by Jeremy Wolk, attorney, Nixon Peabody LLC and treasurer and finance chair, MCC Foundation Board of Directors. Following is a piece of Anita’s inspiring story:

MCC was Anita first stop on her path to higher education and an impressive legal career. With an MCC office technology-legal degree in hand, Anita Pelletier went on to St. John Fisher College to earn a bachelor’s of arts degree in economics. She didn’t stop there. Instead she headed to Syracuse University where she earned a master’s in public administration and a law degree—graduating summa cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law.

Anita joined Nixon Peabody, LLP as an associate attorney in 2001 and was promoted to counsel nine years later.  A member of Nixon Peabody's nonprofit practice group, she focuses her practice on helping national and international nonprofit clients successfully navigate governance and operational matters in the most transparent and accountable way possible. She is a member of the American, New York State, and Monroe County bar associations.

Her pro bono work and dedication to community is recognized here at home and across New York state. She gives back as a member of numerous professional and civic organizations including the NACUA, Greater Rochester Association of Women Attorneys, Webster Golf Club and St. John Fisher College Planned Giving Committee and YWCA board of directors.  She resides in Webster with her husband and three children—all three of whom she encouraged to take classes at MCC.

The Salute to Excellence dinner will be held on Thursday, November 14 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Tickets are still available. MCC faculty and staff and their guests may take advantage of a special ticket rate of $50 per person (general public per person rate is $120). RSVP by November 4 by contacting the MCC Foundation at x1500 or <mailto:mccf@monroecc.edu>.  The event will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m.; dinner and awards program will begin at 7 p.m.
