Jerry Widzinski, retired director of facilities, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1.
Jerry took care of MCC's physical plant for 18 years, first as superintendent of services in the Housekeeping Department and then in a variety of leadership roles in the Institutional Facilities Department. He was named director of facilities in 1983, where he served until his retirement in 1994.
Jerry also served his country in the U.S. Army, 1948-1952.
Jerry was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor; daughter, Karen Rodomski; and brothers, Tom and Dennis Widzinski. He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne, (also retired from MCC Facilities Department); children Scott (Roxanne), Quinn, David (Nancy), Joseph (Tammy) Palamitia, and Lisa (Michael) Whisker; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Melanie Gurney; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at the Leo M. Bean and Sons Funeral Home, 2771 Chili Ave., Thursday, 4-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Church, 2732 Culver Rd. Interment, Holy Ghost Cemetery.
