SUNY Student Information Survey

As part of SUNY’s system-wide commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness, SUNY System Administration has designed a SUNY-wide Student Information Survey.  The survey will collect student information from across all SUNY campuses that includes data on sexual orientation, gender identity, disabilities, veteran status, employment and first generation status.  This data is being collected for informational purposes to inform efforts by SUNY System to support student success and ensure inclusive campus environments.

Monroe Community College will implement this survey in early January 2016. Students will be asked to complete this survey after completing their course registration.  Students will have the opportunity to decline to respond to individual questions or to opt out of submitting responses at the end of the survey.  If a student closes the survey without completing or submitting it, it will continue to be presented each time the student logs into MyMCC.  Because the answers to some questions may change over the course of their studies, students will be asked to complete the survey each semester of attendance.

MCC faculty and staff, including all teaching faculty, department chairs, deans, and administrators, will not have access to the individual student data collected through this survey, and this information will not be associated with students’ academic record in MCC’s student information systems. This data will be reported to MCC at the aggregate level—such as by overall campus, sectors of campuses, or the system as a whole—never by individual student.  For more information on the background of the survey, the actual survey questions, and privacy information, see the attached memo from SUNY Provost Alexander Cartwright.
