MCC Foundation Presents Luncheon with Abigail Disney Oct. 21

Abigail E. Disney, granddaughter of Roy Disney and grandniece of Walt Disney, will be the keynote speaker at the Monroe Community College Foundation’s Perfect Partners: Philanthropy and Higher Education luncheon seminar next Tuesday, Oct. 21. The luncheon is co-chaired by MCC Foundation Directors Bernice E. Hatch and J. Christine Wilson.

A businesswoman, philanthropist, filmmaker and advocate for social and political change, Abigail Disney is the founder and president of the Daphne Foundation that supports community-based organizations working with low-income communities. The Daphne Foundation has made millions of dollars in grants supporting women’s rights, AIDS advocacy, children’s health, labor conditions, religion and environmentalism.  Disney is also the vice chair of Shamrock Holdings Incorporated, a professional investment company managing more than $1.5 billion for a diverse group of investors, as well as for the Roy Disney family. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University, a master’s degree from Stanford University and a doctorate in English from Columbia University.
