MCC Theatre to be Renovated

Over the life of the Brighton campus, imagine the thousands of productions that have taken place in our theatre. It has hosted VAPA-sponsored productions, pinning ceremonies, police officer graduations, and college events, as well as serving the community’s needs.

Property Preservation Projects are part of the College’s Facilities Master Plan and as one such project, MCC’s theatre is scheduled to be renovated next year. Because of the scope of the project, it will close mid-June of 2016 and will reopen in early 2017.

Property Preservation Projects focus on improvements that directly impact the quality and delivery of instruction at the College, as well as the management of College operations. Utilizing capital funds from Monroe County and the State of New York, a team led by our Facilities Department engaged the services of design and engineering groups, as well as acousticians and AV consultants to work with the College team to re-design the theatre. The project includes interior finishes, HVAC, lighting, and sprinklers in addition to stage lighting and sound system which are all part of the rehabilitation.  Particular emphasis was placed on the acoustics of the space due to the varied usage. The project is currently in the bidding process.

Please note that if you regularly use the theatre for programs, events, etc., you will need to plan to find an alternative location during the shutdown.
