MCC Proud: Meet Chuck DiSalvo

Chuck DiSalvo, who serves as Monroe Community College’s (MCC) Strategic Planner and Emergency Manager, has worked at the College for 21 years.

DiSalvo is a proud graduate of Greece Athena and an alumnus of Monroe Community College. He also earned degrees from St. John Fisher College and Webster University.

He became interested in this line of work after the September 11th attacks. “I felt the need to contribute to our nation in its time of need in some form,” he said. “Emergency Management was my chosen way to serve.”

While reflecting on his time at MCC, DiSalvo shared, “The number of times I was able to help someone in need are my most rewarding moments.”

DiSalvo isn’t one for individual recognition. In fact, he’s consistently requested that any awards offered to him be presented to the entire Public Safety Department instead. “It's always been and will always be a team effort,” he said. 

When asked what advice he would give students, DiSalvo said, “Dreams begin here at MCC. It doesn't matter who you are or how old you are. The best thing you can do for yourself is to just get started and never give up on your dreams.”

Outside of work, DiSalvo is active in several environmental and climate-related activism groups. He also works with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/National Weather Service (NWS) regionally as a weather and climate researcher.

    Chuck: I'm visiting China in 2026.

    Chuck: Storm chasing, cycling, reading, blogging on Substack, and 3D Printing
