Correction - Planned Power Outage 11/25/06
Last week an article appeared detailing the planned campus power outage for the Thanksgiving break week. The correct date for that outage should have been Saturday 11/25/06. Coincidentally, there will be a planned outage in the Phase I residence halls on 11/24/06 for work required to connect the new residence halls under construction. This outage on Friday, will affect only the residence halls and will last all day. The Saturday outage will be campus wide. Updated information indicates that we may be able to test all the system with one or two outages during the period from 6:00am to 9:00am. For more details, the previous announcement is reprinted below.
During November, modifications are being made to the MCC cogeneration plant located on the Brighton Campus. These modifications will improve the performance and reliability of our on-campus heating and electric system. At the conclusion of these modifications, the equipment must be tested to assure its performance. The tests will involve shutting down the power system on campus several times on November 25th, from 6:00 am to 9:00 am. These shut downs will result in a complete blackout on campus – for several minutes at a time. If all goes as planned, there should be no more than three outages in this period. It is advised that you do not attempt to work on campus during this time. Network services will be down during the testing, but will be restored at the conclusion.
