HVAC Students Save the College Thousands

The Biology Department would like to thank the students and faculty in the HVAC program for the wonderful work they did removing the walk-in refrigerator and freezer units.  Their efforts saved the department and college a great deal of money, while providing the students in the program a real-world experience.  The project involved nearly forty students and two faculty working late into the night.

The two units were over twenty-five years old and constructed of wood panels clad in tin; therefore, they were heavy.  The job was done while classes were in session with very little interruption.  Had the department contracted with an outside vendor it would have taken weeks and cost thousands of dollars.  In addition most of the refrigerator and freezer unit would have gone to the landfill. The students went above and beyond our expectations, doing a professional grade job in one evening.  The units have been re-assembled and made operational at the Applied Technologies Center for use as a teaching tool.

Thank you Bill Horton and Kevin French for the wonderful work you and your students did in removing the refrigerator and freezer for us.
