STEP Welcomes 36 Students for Saturdays at the College Program
On Saturday, March 22nd, the Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) hosted 36 middle and high school students on campus to conclude our Saturdays at the College program for the 2024-2025 academic year. Students engaged in hands-on activities led by the Engineering Technologies department, including faculty, staff, and students. They built robots, worked with Morse Assistive Technology Trainer (MATT) Code kits, mixed concrete samples, and even participated in a bridge-building competition.
A special thank you to Professors Bill Hunt, Pat DiLucia, and Kay Morgan, along with the students in the department, for your dedication and commitment to inspiring and empowering the next generation.
STEP is funded by a New York State Education Department grant with the goal of increasing the number of historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students who are prepared to enter college, while also improving their participation rate in mathematics, science, technology, health-related fields, and licensed professions.
