Recruiting Buzz

During the first week in October, Admissions advisors were on the road; recruited at area high schools and attended college fairs in NYC at The Big Apple College Fair and SUNY College Fairs at the Javits Center.  Another advisor attended four separate college fairs in the Syracuse area. 

Week of 10/9 thru 10/13

Advisors visited School W/O Walls, All City, Franklin, World of Inquiry, Wilson Magnet, Edison, REOC, Rochester Academy, East High, and World of Inquiry Group Visit to the Brighton Campus. The group toured the campus and enjoyed a hearty lunch.

Week of 10/16 thru 10/20

Our advisors visited School of the Arts, Livonia Central, Dansville, York Central, Genesee, North College Prep, Wheatland Chili and welcomed guests to our Downtown Info Session on October 19 from 5 – 7pm.

The buzzing is non-stop …. Upcoming Week  10/23 thru 10/27

We have scheduled visits to Penfield, Brighton, Rush Henrietta, Greece Arcadia, Palmyra, Rochester Education Foundation, back to Wilson Magnet, and All City. On Thursday, October 26, Admissions is hosting SUNY Operation Inform where high school counselors will have the opportunity to attend workshops on SUNY’S Educational Opportunity Program, Unmatched Return of a SUNY Education, MCC Optics Program, Navigating the Better FAFSA, Student and Alumni Panel and more.

However, Admissions isn’t just about recruiting high school students. Our counselors meet with adults daily. We have appointments and answer calls regarding transfer credit, nursing programs (including CNA and LPN), Return to Complete, Pathways to College and discuss MCC’s other excellent academic programs. We help adults navigate the process by sitting down with them, addressing their concerns and helping them apply to the College.

Other buzz notes: Did you know that one Admissions Advisor is at a Rochester City School District three days a week? Our Counselors and Advisors also take turns meeting with prospective students at the Downtown Campus Monday-Thursday.  The recruiting buzz is bee-zie.
