What is Earth Day?

Earth Day is a day to celebrate Earth.

Earth Day is observed annually on April 22. It is a time dedicated to promoting environmental protection and raising awareness about the issues facing our planet. It has grown in popularity, with millions of people participating in various activities aimed at supporting the need for a sustainable future.

Earth Day reminds us that collective action is needed to preserve the environment and take responsibility for our ecological footprint. It’s a time when we should reflect on our habits and consider how small changes in our daily lives can lead to significant impacts.

Some ideas include planting a tree, participating in beach clean-ups, or simply reducing waste, conserving water, using public transportation, supporting sustainable products, and advocating for policies that protect the environment.

MCC is celebrating Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22, in the R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center from 11:00am to 1:30pm with a vendor fair featuring organizations committed to sustainability. Watch for updates on this event in the Daily Tribune.

In anticipation of Earth Day, I encourage you to reflect on your relationship with nature, inspire others, and commit to protecting the planet for generations to come.
