Fitness does not need to be fancy. A brisk walk can have great health benefits. The Mayo Clinic sites the following benefits to taking a brisk walk:
· Maintain a healthy weight
· Prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes
· Strengthen your bones
· Lift your mood
· Improve your balance and coordination
There are many ways to get in some good walking time….early in the morning, maybe lengthen your usual dog walk, lunch hour, try walking a document over to someone across campus rather than send it inter-office mail, after dinner with a friend or family member, etc.
We are so blessed to have a beautiful campus to walk around and a wonderful indoor facility in the PAC. So, no more excuses….get moving. Starting Wednesday, October 9 from 7:45 am to 8:30 am, the PAC will be open for “Walking Wednesdays” for anyone who wants to come and start your morning off with a good walk. Enjoy!
