Planned Brighton Campus Power Outage

On Saturday December 30th, there will be one more test of the cogeneration power plant on the Brighton Campus. Testing at Thanksgiving revealed a problem that has been fixed and now needs to be re-tested. The test should result in two power outages lasting less than 15 minutes each between the hours of 6:00 am and 8:00 am. These outages will result in a complete blackout on campus – for several minutes at a time. It is advised that you do not attempt to work on campus during this time. Network services will be down during the testing, but will be restored at the conclusion.

Stationary engineers will be on campus at the time of the testing and will inspect the campus at the conclusion of the testing to insure that all required equipment has re-started properly.

It is advisable to turn off sensitive electronic equipment that is not being used over the break. If you have sensitive equipment that should be checked after the shutdown, please contact me so that it can be added to our list.
