Henrique Silva Baltazar
Veronica: Where are you from?
Henrique: I’m from Brazil, Belo Horizonte (city), Minas Gerais (state).
Veronica: What is your major?
Henrique: My major is Liberal Arts, but I’m following the biology pathway.
Veronica: Who inspires you and why?
Henrique: Ayrton Senna (Brazilian F1 driver), the way that he dedicated himself to the sport for me, it’s something that nobody did for me. He is my model of an athlete, and as he always said, I take that advice very seriously: "Winning is the most important thing; everything is a consequence of that".
Veronica: What are your plans after graduation?
Henrique: I plan to transfer to a four-year college, continue the pre-med course, and continue swimming.
Veronica: What was your favorite memory from your time at MCC?
Henrique: Spending with my teammates at the dorm after practice was definitely one of my favorite memories.
Veronica: Why would you recommend MCC to other students?
Henrique: I would recommend MCC to other students because of how embraced I felt while I was here.
Veronica: What advice would you give to prospective students you wish someone would have given to you?
Henrique: Don't get too stressed about going to college. College is just a step, or, as my coach likes to say, one part of a mountain that is preparing you for the great things that you have ahead of you.
Siniyah Sutton-Barton
Veronica: Where are you from?
Siniyah: I’m from Rochester.
Veronica: What is your major?
Siniyah: Homeland Security.
Veronica: Who inspires you and why?
Siniyah: My mother and my boys are my biggest inspirations. My mother showed me what it means to be a hard worker despite your circumstances, and my boys deserve the best version of me, so everything I do is in remembrance of my mother and the future of my family.
Veronica: What are your plans after graduation?
Siniyah: I plan on obtaining my bachelor's degree at Roberts Wesleyan University (Homeland Security and Applied Intelligence) and finding an internship.
Veronica: What was your favorite memory from your time at MCC?
Siniyah: My greatest memory is making so many connections with other students and professors and with anything related to the EOP workshop.
Veronica: Why would you recommend MCC to other students?
Siniyah: I would recommend MCC because it’s a great starting point. You save money if you plan to do a 2+2, you get the feel of college without the extra anxiety a four-year university could throw at you if you’ve never been to college, and you have resources to help you succeed.
Veronica: What advice would you give to prospective students you wish someone would have given to you?
Siniyah: My advice to future students is that it’s okay not to be perfect. Your mental health is just as important as your grades. Breathe and take one day at a time.
