White House Internship Program Extended - Fall 2009 Semester


The Office of Experiential and Adult Learning has received notice of internships that will be open at the White House in Washington DC.  The 2009 fall Internship program will run from Sept. 8 – Dec. 18th.   In addition to normal office duties, interns will supplement their learning experience by attending a weekly lecture series hosted by senior White House staff, help at White House social events, and volunteer in community service projects. 

Interns will be placed in one of the following departmental offices for their internship.  Below is a list of departments in the Office of the President and the Office of the Vice President where interns could be placed.

-- The White House Department of Scheduling and Advance
-- The Office of Cabinet Affairs
-- The White House Communications Department
-- The White House Office of Public Liaison and Intergovernmental Affairs
-- The Office of the First Lady
-- The White House Office of Legislative Affairs (OLA)
-- The Office of Political Affairs
-- The Office of Management and Administration
-- The Office of White House Counsel
-- The Domestic Policy Council
-- The White House Office of Presidential Personnel
-- The Office of the Vice President

Qualifications:
-- United States citizen
-- At least 18 years of age on or before the first day of the internship         
-- Currently enrolled in  an undergraduate or graduate program at a college, community college or university  OR  graduated in the past two years from an undergraduate or graduate  program
-- Upper level matriculated student in Associates degree program (GPA  3.0 or better)

Applicants must submit a completed application packet ON OR BEFORE TUESDAY, MAY 26, 2009. Any student who completes the application process must contact Mr. Larry Lacy in the Experiential and Adult learning Office located in the Career Center 3-108F.  292-2016.
