The Hamlin Clarkson Herald article, “Veg out this growing season” (in the May 3 issue), features an interview with Agriculture and Life Sciences Institute Director Bob King, Ph.D. The article explores the popularity of vegetable gardening among Americans. According to the article, 43 million Americans are planning a vegetable garden this spring –a 19 percent increase over last year.
King suggests locating a vegetable garden close to a water source and using organic matter (composted manure, alfalfa, meal, etc.) to provide nutrients to the plants.
