The Sixth Act Presents "Eco-Theatre: An Academic Workshop" TODAY!

The Sixth Act is pleased to remind MCC faculty, staff, and students that “Eco-Theatre: An Academic Workshop” will be offered TODAY, Thursday, October 8, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., in the Black Box Theater (Building 4). As usual, the workshop is free and open to the public, metered parking is available, and light eco-friendly refreshments will be served.

In collaboration with MCC’s Sustainability Group, this workshop will explore ideas surrounding sustainability as expressed on stage. The workshop will outline the history and competing definitions of eco-theatre; provide an overview of eco-theory and criticism, more broadly; feature discussion focusing on the specific application of eco-theory to performed scenes from Ibsen and Shakespeare; and present an overview of the new sustainability certificate offered at MCC.

Formed in 2004, The Sixth Act aims to broaden and deepen an interdisciplinary appreciation of drama at MCC and to connect MCC faculty, staff, and students with events in Rochester’s theatre community. It seeks as its leaders faculty, staff, and students drawn from a variety of academic disciplines and departments. The Sixth Act is supported by MCC's Creative Arts Committee and Liberal Arts Program. For further information, please contact Maria Brandt at 585-292-3394 or <<mailto:mbrandt@monroecc.edu>>
