Enhancing Student Learning with STAC: A Message for Employees

As educators, we understand the importance of integrating instructional technology seamlessly into your curriculum to enhance student learning. However, we've noticed a common challenge among students at MCC: many lack experience with essential technology tools. While they may be proficient in social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, navigating through programs such as Word, Brightspace, or PowerPoint can feel daunting to them. 

That's where the new Student Technology Advancement Center (STAC) comes in. STAC serves as a valuable resource for students, offering personalized support and training to help them overcome these technological hurdles. From mastering Microsoft Office products to navigating Brightspace effectively, STAC is dedicated to empowering students with the digital skills they need to succeed in their academic endeavors. 

But STAC isn't just for students; it's also here to support you, the employees. Whether you're looking to integrate technology into your teaching methods or enhance your students' digital literacy, STAC can provide valuable assistance. Here's how: 

  • Integration Support: STAC can collaborate with you to seamlessly integrate technology into your curriculum. Whether you want to incorporate multimedia presentations or interactive online assignments, we're here to help you leverage technology to enhance the learning experience for your students. 
  • Training Sessions: We offer personalized training sessions for employees on a variety of topics, including effective use of instructional technology tools, navigating Brightspace, and utilizing multimedia resources in your teaching. Our goal is to equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to leverage technology effectively in the classroom. Reach out to us with what you'd like your group to learn, and we'll do everything we can to facilitate it.
  • Co-Teaching Opportunities: Interested in co-teaching a session on a specific topic with STAC team? We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with you to deliver engaging and informative sessions that address the technological needs of your students. Co-teaching can be a single session, or more involved. If your students are struggling with a specific technology, we can teach a lesson to help get your class up to speed so that you can focus on the classwork without your students struggling with the technology.
  • Departmental Workshops: STAC can also provide workshops for departmental meetings. Whether you're looking to explore new instructional technology tools or address specific challenges related to digital learning, we're here to support you. 
  • Customized Support: Have a specific technological challenge or idea in mind? Reach out to STAC, and we'll work with you to develop customized solutions that meet your unique needs and goals.
