TCC Spring 2023 Faculty Inquiry Group: (Re-) Creating a Community of Care

Let’s be real, MCC colleagues. We’ve been through some stuff in the last few years.

We’ve seen many of our beloved colleagues retire and seemingly disappear, without the normal pomp and circumstance of year’s past. We transitioned in a week to a whole new learning modality, found ourselves thrust into our students’ homes, had students thrust into ours, and mitigated a world that, at best, could be considered uncertain for an agonizingly extended period. Our rituals were disrupted, and our social networks shifted overnight.

When we began returning to campus, we found it to be a very different place. Maybe you found a calendar in your office that was years out of date. Maybe you were astonished by the reduced number of students on campus. Maybe you found yourself cringing every time a student or colleague coughed. Maybe you still do.

Let’s start to take care of each other. Come and join a TCC faculty inquiry group that examines the questions: what do we need to (re-) create a community of care on campus? How can we support one another as we grapple with the post-pandemic landscape and work towards a culture of gratitude, support, and respect?
