Monroe Community College's Dialogues on Diversity Committee is a committee originating out of the Office of Student Life and Leadership Development. Our mission is to broaden the horizon of diversity through a number of different venues consisting of programs, lectures and events. The committee, consisting of a diverse group of students, faculty and staff, believes MCC has a uniquely creative and culturally vibrant population on this diverse campus.
For many of us, the way we connect to each other and to the world is through the arts. Sometimes we answer the question or express our feelings through the spoken word, a painting, a dance or a song. The diversity comes from the culture and point of view of the artist. This semester, the Dialogues on Diversity Committee is supporting the development, expression and preservation of art and culture of all MCC individuals by hosting a “True Expression through the Arts” showcase.
The question today for MCC’s Students, Faculty and Staff - “Do you have Talent?” The Dialogues on Diversity Committee is giving you the opportunity to showcase your talent and be rewarded for it. Many of you have never had the opportunity to showcase your unique talents to a wider audience. Now’s your chance!
The committee will be hosting a premier talent show of the arts on April 24th in the Theater. YOU could be one of the lucky ones who will have the opportunity to not only perform but possibly win a prize. We are looking for both students and faculty who would like to showcase talent in the following areas:
* Spoken Word/Sign Language
* Voice and/or Instrumental
* Performing Arts/Dance
* Fine Arts and Photography
Students will compete for first and second place. The first place prize is $150.00, and second place prize is $50.00. Faculty and staff will compete for one prize: a $50.00 gift certificate (compliments of the MCC Bookstore), a certificate and your photograph displayed on campus for two weeks.
This is all in the spirit of fun and to highlight all of the diverse talent on campus. Auditions will be held for all who choose to participate. Finalist selected from the auditions will be in the show on April 24th. Audition dates are as follows:
February 29th, Brighton Campus, Flynn Campus Center Forum 3-130, 11:30am-2pm
