Open Nominations for Faculty Senate Officers

As per the newly-amended Article V ("Officers") of the Faculty Senate Bylaws, the Nominations, Elections, and Governance (NEG) Committee is pleased to open nominations for the following leadership positions:

Faculty Senate President (two-year term)

Faculty Senate Vice President, Teaching Faculty (two-year term)

Faculty Senate Vice President, Professional Staff (two-year term).

Self-nominations or nominations of colleagues may be submitted in writing via email to the NEG Chair (Michael Heel, mheel@monroecc.edu) until 4:45pm on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.

All nominations will be verified by the NEG chair on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at which point electronic ballots will be prepared.

Balloting will take place electronically from June 15, 2017 through 4:45pm, June 21, 2017. The winning officers will be declared at the Faculty Senate meeting on Thursday, June 22, 2017.

Additional details as follows:

  • All candidate nominations must be accompanied by a candidate statement of no more than 500 words outlining the individual's qualifications, reasons for running, goals of service, and/or any other professional/biographical information that would help voters make their decisions;
  • Candidates for President may be any individual currently a member of the voting faculty, as defined by Article IV, Section 1 of the Faculty Senate Bylaws;
  • Candidate for Vice President, Teaching faculty may be any individual currently a member of the teaching faculty, and currently a member of the voting faculty as defined by Article IV, Section 1 of the Faculty Senate Bylaws;
  • Candidates for Vice President, Professional Staff may be any individual currently a member of the non-teaching faculty, and currently a member of the voting faculty as defined by Article IV, Section 1 of the Faculty Senate Bylaws.
