Technology Updates

ETS is busy this summer improving and updating technology throughout the College.  Please note some of these technology updates/activities listed below that may impact your work and/or teaching.

Search Engine - A new enhanced search engine has been rolled out on the MCC website.  Your comments on the vitality of this new engine would be appreciated.  Just email the web master – <
mailto:webmaster@monroecc.edu>.

Student Activation of Accounts - A new process has been developed to ensure that students get access to their MCC Network Account (used to log in to PCs), their E-Mail Account at Microsoft Live@edu, and their Student Records Account (Banner Self Service) as soon as possible after acceptance at MCC.  A new letter is now being sent to new students from the Registrar with a checklist of the steps to activate these three accounts.    The letter asks students to complete this checklist before arriving on campus.   A new web application has been created to walk students through the process online - https://account.monroecc.edu/activate.   PC Kiosks are being positioned around the campus manned with student staff to assist new students that come to campus who have not completed the activation process.

NY-ALERT Survey – MCC uses the NY-ALERT system to send emergency information and protective action messages to the college community.  The College has decided we will no longer be able to opt out of being notified by NY-ALERT; everyone will be required to provide at least an email address.  If you have opted in previously, you will need to re-enter your personal information.  Because text messages are more efficient and a faster mode of communication, we encourage everyone to enter their cell phone number to receive text messages.  Please do not use your on-campus telephone number.  As a reminder, MCC uses InformaCast, the College on-campus alert system, to inform you of emergency/protective information via college phones, internal paging speakers, and external paging speakers.
