Valarie Avalone, director of planning, led a one-day workshop for the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) Institute at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona last month. This was in response to the need for the development of a new strategic plan and accreditation requirements for Pima Community College.
The one-day workshop establishes the foundation of the Integrated Planning Model. Participants learned vital steps and gained tools and techniques that must be taken before the planning process can begin– like accessing your institution’s readiness for change, identifying stakeholders, building a communication plan, conducting environmental scanning, and prioritizing problems and opportunities.
Avalone engaged practitioners in hands-on learning experiences and a variety of interactive breakout sessions. In addition, she tailored this iteration of the workshop specifically for Pima Community College.
