The Human Services Department is pleased to invite you to a Mental Health conference on Saturday, April 30, 2005 at the Damon City Campus. The Human Services Club will be sponsoring the conference. Attached you will find information and registration material.
The students chose mental health for their topic because of a video that Paula Fahy usually shows in the human services 202 class, “Ulysses: A Modern Odyssey”. This video introduces viewers to a courageous and determined man who overcame many obstacles. He lived much of early life in a mental hospital and he had to overcome not only the stigma of a mental illness but had to survive all the systems that were supposed to be there to help him.
Because of the students’ interest we have asked Ulysses to come to our conference and be one of our keynote speakers.
